Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 April 2026 | This policy explains how NowBoard uses cookies and similar technologies.
Short version: We use a single essential session cookie when you're logged in to the NowBoard dashboard. Our analytics provider (Plausible) uses no cookies at all. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners about how their site is used.
Cookies are not the only way websites can store information. Local storage, session storage, and pixels are other technologies that can serve similar purposes. This policy covers all such technologies where relevant.
The cookies we use
NowBoard uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.
| Cookie name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
nowboard_session |
Essential | Maintains your login session when you are signed in to the NowBoard dashboard. Without this cookie, you would be logged out on every page load. | Session (expires when you close your browser) |
Analytics — no cookies used
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Plausible is a privacy-first analytics platform that does not use cookies and does not track individuals across websites or sessions.
The data Plausible collects includes: page views, referring URLs, browser type, operating system, and approximate location (country and city level). This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual visitors.
Because Plausible uses no cookies, it does not require cookie consent under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).
Third-party services
We use a small number of third-party services on the NowBoard website. Here's a summary of their cookie and tracking behaviour:
| Service | Purpose | Cookies / tracking |
|---|---|---|
| Plausible Analytics | Website analytics | No cookies; no cross-site tracking; GDPR compliant by design |
| Google Fonts | Web typography | Font files served from Google CDN. Google may log IP addresses per their privacy policy. No tracking cookies set on our domain. |
| Stripe | Payment processing (dashboard only) | Stripe sets cookies for fraud prevention and checkout functionality. These are only present on payment pages. |
Essential cookies and consent
The session cookie we set (nowboard_session) is strictly necessary for the operation of the NowBoard dashboard. Under UK PECR, essential cookies that are required for a service explicitly requested by the user do not require prior consent. You are not prompted to accept this cookie because it cannot be declined without breaking the login functionality.
Because we do not set non-essential cookies on the public website, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here's how to do this in the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (macOS): Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Safari (iOS): Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security → Advanced
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Site permissions → Cookies and site data
Please note: if you delete or block the NowBoard session cookie, you will be logged out of the dashboard and will need to sign in again.
Do Not Track
Some browsers allow you to send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. NowBoard does not currently respond differently to DNT signals because we already apply a privacy-first approach to analytics and do not engage in tracking regardless of DNT status.
Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy if our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes. If we start using new non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and, where required, seek your consent before setting them.
