Four steps from screen to revenue

Enable advertising on any screen you control. Set your own price. Take the booking. Stripe handles the money — we take a small commission, you keep the rest.

1

Enable an AdSpace

Turn on advertising for any screen in your estate. One toggle per Location.

2

Set the price

Pick your CPM (cost per thousand plays) manually, or use the pricing wizard.

3

Close the deal

Sell direct to advertisers you know — or take bookings from a QR code on the screen.

4

Get paid automatically

Stripe transfers your share. We take a small commission. No invoicing, no chasing.

Your tier sets your commission

Lower your commission rate by upgrading your subscription. The Professional tier is the sweet spot for screen owners actively selling ads — you keep 87% of every ad sold.

Plan Subscription Commission You keep
Free £0/mo 30% 70%
Starter £10/Loc/mo 20% 80%
Professional £20/Loc/mo 13% 87%
Enterprise £30/Loc/mo (volume discounts) 8% 92%

Stripe processing fees (~1.5% + £0.20 per UK transaction) are pass-through to the seller, separate from commission.

Four ways to fill your inventory

The same 13% Pro commission applies across every selling model — pick whichever fits the deal.

Exclusive

One advertiser, full window

One advertiser owns the slot for the whole window — no rotation. Premium placement, premium feel.

Best for sponsorships and headline partners.
Shared lanes

2–3 advertisers take turns

A small group of advertisers share the slot, taking turns through the day. Lower per-advertiser cost, higher fill rate.

Best for standard SMB inventory.
Auction

Highest bidder wins each play

Each individual play goes to the highest bidder in real time. Prices flex with demand.

Best for time-sensitive demand — event days, peak hours.
Programmatic — Phase 5

Auto-fill unsold inventory

Programmatic fills any unsold slots automatically via Vistar / Hivestack. You set a floor price and the SSP does the work.

Coming Phase 5. Direct-sales models are live now.

13% commission on Pro. About a third of what enterprise platforms charge.

Major DOOH SSPs charge 25–40% commission on every ad sold — that's their core business model. NowBoard treats commission as a fair share, not a tax.

Platform Commission
Broadsign Reach30–40%
Vistar Media30%
Hivestack30–40%
VIOOH25–35%
Adomni (SMB)20–25%
NowBoard Pro13%

A 28-site bakery chain in the South West runs NowBoard across two screens per shop. Their venues are now testing screen advertising with local food suppliers and high-street neighbours.

What could your screen earn?

A rough estimate based on venue type, footfall, and a Pro-tier 13% commission. Real numbers depend on your local CPM, fill rate, and the deals you close.

Used for context only — we don't store it.
People walking past the screen each day.
More slots = more inventory to sell, but harder to fill all at once.

Indicative only. Assumes 70% of footfall sees the screen, 60% are captured (dwell long enough to register the ad), 30 days/month, and a Pro-tier 13% commission. Real CPMs vary by location and demand.

Common questions

Do I have to sell ads?

No. The advertising layer is entirely optional. Many customers stay on Starter, run their own content (timetables, menus, announcements), and never sell a slot. Advertising is there if and when you want it.

How does the booking actually work?

Two paths. (1) You sell ads to people you know — local businesses, sponsors, partners — using the tools we give you (rate cards, proposal links, Stripe checkout). (2) Advertisers book direct from a QR code on your screen, taking it from your inventory at the price you've set. Phase 4 adds a self-serve marketplace; Phase 5 adds programmatic fill.

When do I get paid?

Stripe transfers your share to your Connected Account automatically — weekly or monthly, your choice. Our commission is deducted at the point of charge using a Stripe Connect destination charge with an application fee. No invoicing on your side, no chasing.

What can and can't be advertised?

You set your own content rules per Location. Every booking goes through your approval before it plays — you can reject ads that don't fit your venue or audience. We enforce baseline rules (no illegal content, no malware) but the editorial line is yours.

Is this programmatic DOOH?

Not yet. Today (Phase 2–3) it's direct sales: you set the price, you close the deal, Stripe handles the money. Programmatic integration with Vistar / Hivestack lands in Phase 5 of the roadmap. The same 13% Pro rate will apply to programmatic when it ships.

Why is Pro 13% when enterprise platforms charge 30%+?

Because we make most of our money from the subscription, not the ad cut. Major SSPs (Broadsign, Vistar, Hivestack) only earn from ad commission — their floor is high. We charge a small subscription per Location, which lets us drop the commission to a level that makes screen owners actually want to sell ads. It's a structural advantage, not a promotion.
